The White Eagle Story
In 2003, John and Alex Timpson bought a house in Rhoscolyn, their perfect retreat apart from one thing. Alex doesn't cook if she can avoid it, and she couldn't find any good food at the local pubs and restaurants, so to solve this situation her plan was always to one day buy the local pub, The White Eagle.

In June the following year, rumours were growing about the closure of the White Eagle pub. This provoked a prompt reaction. "It’s obvious" said Alex, "we'll buy the White Eagle and provide fine food not only for ourselves but everyone else near Rhoscolyn."... The challenge was set.

On the 29th April 2005 the deal was done. John and Alex were now the proud owners of their very own pub, and within three days Alex had already replaced the fence and planted new bedding plants. This was only a mere glimpse of her future plans for the White Eagle.

Several months, and architects drawings later, the plans for the 'new' White Eagle were finished.
White Eagle Plans

In October 2006, the diggers moved in and the major development work began. In only two days, a large part of the White Eagle was reduced to rubble, and since then it has been a mammoth effort to rebuild and redesign the White Eagle.

In May 2007, the White Eagle re-opened, and the pictures below show that the wait was definitely worthwhile.

The 'new look' White Eagle - We think it was worth it!!

The new look White Eagle

Some people had suggested that the White Eagle should be left alone, but a visit when the pub was bursting at the seams on a bank holiday, or a tour of the kitchen at meal time would have been enough to convince anybody that there was plenty of room for improvement.

Throughout the re-development of the White Eagle, The main focus has always stayed the same… to provide the best pub on Anglesey! Below is the story of how the White Eagle has changed since the current owners purchased the pub a few years ago.
